Batman Arkham Asylum

Wow. If you've ever wanted to be Batman, this is the game to play. They totally nailed what Batman is about, The World's Greatest Detective. You look for clues, follow "forensic trails", and solve The Riddlers challenges on Arkham Island.

You also get to take on some of Gotham's Most Wanted. From Poision Ivy, Harley Quinn, Bane, Killer Croc and The Scarecrow to the Joker's goons and lunatics at the asylum. The Scarecrow levels were my favorite and can get quite creepy.

This is the perfect Batman game and is easily the best. I've played quite a few of them in the past with Batman for the Sega Genesis, and Batman Returns on the SNES being my favorites before this masterpiece.

Guitar Hero 5

Guitar Hero 5 is pretty much more of the same. The added Avatar support is pretty cool. I had fun rocking with my "Captain Morgan" avatar. The song creation stuff isn't for me but I can see how someone could get caught up in it.

I played through every song in the set list and that is the games big problem. The song selection is horrible. Why is Stevie Wonder(Superstitious) and Wild Cherry(Play That Funky Music) in a GUITAR HERO game? It makes no sense. The best thing to come out of this was Megadeth's Sweating Bullets. I bought the mp3 as soon as I finished playing through that song.

It's worth a rental for a few hundred easy achievements and some good songs(Sublime's What I got), but it's not worth buying if you have previous Guitar Hero games.

Wolfenstein

I'm not a huge Wolfenstein fan. I have only played the SNES version and the XBLA port of the original.

The single player campaign is pretty decent. If you're a huge Wolfenstein fan, you might really enjoy exploring through the game. I couldn't bring myself to finish the campaign, though. It just got a little too boring for me.

The multiplayer is what I was really excited for, so I decided to give it a try. Wow, what a flashback to 1999. Horrible connection issues, lag, and only a few modes to play. There isn't even a Free For All mode. I had to stop playing after a few maps because I have better games to waste my time on. In fact, I would rather have been playing the XBLA port of the original than to continue suffering through this.

Kodu Game Lab

Kodu lets you make your own game levels. It's in the indie games section on the Xbox dashboard. If you've ever wanted to try to make your own games you NEED Kodu!

You create your levels from scratch, give your bots some pretty easy commands, and can have a game running in minutes. You decide if you want a 2-d or 3-d game and can make whatever genre you want.

In the newest update they have added a lot of fixes but the best addition is the Kodu Game Share. You connect to a room and share and download other users games. It's very fun playing the games and they can give you ideas for your own games.

Battlefield 1943

Battlefield 1943 is fantastic! Epic battles with planes flying(and sometimes crashing) right above you, while tanks, jeeps and infantry all try to stop you from taking the flag. I don't like playing capture the flag in COD but I love playing it in BF. There is also an air raid that is really fun to use. I got 8 kills on one drop once.

Flying the planes has a learning curve that can be overcome by playing the tutorial. Then there's Coral Sea, the all plane mode of the game. It can be really fun.....except when your teammates camp at the planes and blow them up or just stand around shooting each other. Pretty lame.

It's definitely worth the $15.00.

Terminator Slavation

I wanted to like this game so much. I read the reviews but reviews and me don't always agree. But trust me this game is horrible. It was fun for the first couple of levels. But that was it. You run into the same enemies over and over.....and over.

The battles with the actual Terminators were frustrating. Die...load.....respawn....die.....load. I gave up.

The achievement points were coming pretty easy but playing through the whole game just wasn't worth it. Terminator Salvation is one of the most painful movie tie in games that I've played lately.

Not worth renting and definitely not worth buying.

Space Invaders Extreme

Space Invaders extreme is kind of like Pac Man Championship Edition. HD graphics of an old school classic with flashy explosions and a techno soundtrack. I love this game! It's hard in an old school way and I can't get the music out of my head.

If you couldn't tell, it's definitely worth the $10.00.

Two Guitar Hero Games

Here's the deal. I'm not a fan of Aerosmith. Some of their songs are all right and their power ballads are torture. But I like Guitar Hero and I like buying games for $7.99 so I bought it. The presentation is very cool. I like the interview clips with the band and it was pretty fun playing through the game. I gotta ask though, what is up with DMC doing Walk This Way and King Of Rock by himself? You can't tell me Run wouldn't have agreed to doing it, I've seen Run's House. Also, I blew through the game in a day. Anyway it was worth $7.99

On to Guitar Hero Metallica. I decided not to buy this game even though I like Metallica. I figured I would run through it as fast as the Aerosmith version but I was wrong. After the first set or two the track listing is awesome. I might actually have to buy this one.

The thing that disappointed me though was that there are no interviews. Why establish that in 'Aerosmith' if you aren't gonna do it to all of the band discs? There is a "pop up video" type commentary on each track which is pretty cool. Overall it's definitely worth buying if you're in to Metallica.

Resident Evil 5

I bought RE5 on the release date and still haven't finished it. I'm currently on level 5-3. I don't know what it is about this game. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I just want to chuck it up on eBay. It plays a lot like RE4 and I think that's my problem. I want a REAL RE game. I don't want some stupid partner that jacks my ammo and doesn't use grenades. I want to solve puzzles in a creepy mansion and kill real zombies that don't have drivers licenses.

Well that's how I feel so far. I'll post again if I ever finish it.

Well maybe not Rock Revolution, and judging by the amount of copies at Best Buy, I'm not in the minority. I was able to hit that Best Buy sale for $9.99 360 games. The sale was crazy. I got there 5 minutes after it opened and there was a swarm of people there. Needless to say most of the good stuff was gone. I went there for Too Human and just when I thought all hope was lost, I found the last copy hidden behind some wrestling game. Here's a quick rundown of the games I purchased.

Operation Darkness:
It's a weird strategy rpg that has you fighting a war by taking turns in a chess-like battle. The graphics are horrible but I had fun with it for a while. UNTIL I had to start over at the very beginning every time I died. I'm putting this at the bottom of my stack due to the frustration. Probably not worth $9.99

Universe At War:This is my first RTS game and so far it's pretty cool. I kind of have to be in the right mood to play it but I'm having fun with it. Probably worth $9.99

Hellboy: The Science Of Evil
Generic superhero movie tie in. I kind of figured this but sometimes I'm in the mood for some mindless action. Worth $9.99

Fracture:
Third person shooter that lets you alter the terrain by shooting it. Gimmicky but fun. I'm a sucker for halfway decent games with aliens and guns. Worth $9.99

Too Human:Last but not least is Too Human. I knew that I liked this game going in because I rented it before. I love this game. I love the setting, the characters, the cheesy voice acting, the leveling up of characters and the dual analog hack and slash controls. Definitely worth $9.99

I almost forgot. I was able to score You're In The Movies for $9.99 at Amazon with the camera included. This game is very fun with a group of people. You act out what's being shown to you on the screen and at the very end it compiles everything into a cheesy movie trailer. Definitely worth $9.99

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

Game Time: There are over 40 games, some of them RPGs so there's a TON of game time here.

Plays Like: Nintendon't.

Achievements Acquired During Rental: 835. I didn't rent this though. It's only 29.99 and worth every penny.

Overall: Some games haven't aged too well but it's a good trip down memory lane. The value here is unbelievable, especially considering how much one game would cost on XBLA. All games can be played in 16x9 and smoothing can be turned on. Games look great and play like they did on the old Genny. Some arcade versions of the games and the Master System game Phantasy Star can be unlocked.

Left 4 Dead

Game Time: Took less than 2 hours to go through single player on normal.

Plays like: A squad based shooter.

Achievements acquired during rental: 170

Overall: It's fun shooting zombies. Single player was way too short. Online community seems great, although after I downloaded an update I couldn't get back online. If you have friends with the game it's probably a must buy.

Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts

Plays Like: Platformer/racer/vehicle builder.

Overall: The rental time I had was not enough for the game. I will buy it in the near future. Character "voices" get annoying. Vehicle building is pretty addictive and you can spend a lot of time making them just to see if they will work. The different levels were fun and varied. Some events ranged from basic racing to destruction derby style challenges and even soccer. The online community is dead as of 2/09.

Infamous Movie Review: O Brother, Where Art Thou

O Horatio, Where Art Thou?

I love this movie. When I first saw it back in 2000, it inspired me to read Homer's Odyssey. Watching this again made me realize that David Caruso based his CSI:Miami character(Horatio Cain) on the sheriff in this film. The stances, the scowls, and yes, even the sunglasses.

Besides this revelation, the film still stands as a classic. And it's definitely funnier than Homer's Odyssey.

Sonic Unleashed

Plays like: Sonic Adventure+Tomb Raider+crap

Overall: The game starts out like Sonic Adventure; fast, fun and great looking. Then you turn into a "Werehog". Now Sonic can't run, and the game turns into a platformer with bad camera angles. I turned off the 360 in frustration and immediately shipped the game back.

Rental review = bad.

Buy it review = bad.

Bond 007: Quantum of Solace

Game Time: 6-7 hours on medium difficulty.

Plays like: COD4 with some cover mechanics.

Online multiplayer: Average. Facility from N64 Goldeneye is a playable map.

Achievements acquired during rental: 345.

Overall: Single player campaign is a lot of fun for Bond fans. Most of the game follows the events of Casino Royale. Online multiplayer is pretty good.
